I read this the other day and bookmarked the article until I’d stopped projectile vomiting at the rampant stupidity contained therein.
Oh. Wait. I’d better grab my bucket, just in case it starts again…
A virgin slips Branson’s grasp in a bad day for grammar
David Smith – February 4, 2010
CAPE TOWN: There have been many David and Goliath battles, but seldom over the ownership of one word. The underdog in this case was a South African whose company has one employee – …

Behind my desk at work, there’s a window. I work in a small (frequently disheveled) office – the rest of the building, however, has very few windows, so being able to gaze out the window is a definite privilege.
(Often, when I turn back around, I discover a colleague glaring at me, with this “do you EVER actually do ANY work??” look on their face. As my work’s only full-time writer, most of the other staff are convinced I do virtually …

I read the other day that Avatar is making people depressed.
(Sigh. I was depressed after seeing Avatar, too…but that’s because it’s a festering pile of faux-leftist crap.)
I’ve done some digging around on the Net, and discovered that there are people out there who are taking Avatar waaaay too seriously. People over the age of twelve. Grown adults. And they’re sad. Because Pandora, the ever-so-subtly named planet featured in the movie – isn’t actually real. I mean, how can shitty old …

I haven’t actually mentioned it here very much, but since I got my iPhone, I’ve taken a photo every day.
(I think I’ve forgotten two or three times Oops. And I’d post the images on my blog, but I can’t work out how….)
It’s been a fun experience. I’m not sure how long I’m going to do it for, but for the moment, I’m enjoying it.
Not that I’m a brilliant photographer, of course. My photography is woeful. But it’s just fun to …

I read this the other day, and it got me thinking…
Love’s an alien idea
MX Sydney – Wednesday January 20, 2010
Finding true love in London is as rare as aliens in the galaxy, says one economist.
Peter Backus, an economics teaching fellow at University of Warwick, used a Drake equation determining the potential number of aliens in our galaxy to calculate that he has a 0.00034 per cent chance of finding love.
Aww. Poor Peter. So far, it’s quite an interesting story, yes? …

I’m in the middle of giving the paint the stars a fresh coat of paint.
On the offchance that you’re just dropping by my blog and you’re confronted with COMPLETE AND TOTAL CHAOS…err, sorry. I don’t actually know what I’m doing.
Anyway. Hope you like the new look!

Some Scottish guy once said something like “the best-laid plans of mice and men/often go awry”.
Personally, I don’t see how the plans of a mouse could be so complicated. “Get cheese” would probably be one of them. “Eat cheese” would be another top mousely priority. Oh, and “avoid mouse traps” would surely be pretty high on that list, too…
In stark contrast, my plans for the New Year were a little more complex. Okay – much more complex.
Here’s a sad confession. …

For a few weeks there, I totally lost my groove.
But I’m back – and I’m feeling much better now (c:
More soon. In the meantime, I hope you like this song…

As far as I’m concerned, this is the song of 2009. I hope you like it!
We Won’t Run
Sarah Blasko – 2009
I love this song, because it’s so full of ecstatic hope – but, at the same time, it’s actually quite sad. And there’s a sense (especially in the video clip – which I haven’t seen before today!) of embarking upon an adventure. Something fantastic is beginning – but something is ending, too.
For me, this is the perfect song for ending …

(okay, so I’m not actually posting this Song for a Saturday on a Saturday. Shhh. I’ve been sick, okay? Just pretend it’s Saturday when you’re reading/listening to this. Find your favourite slippers. Put your feet up. I don’t care if it’s really Wednesday afternoon and you’re at work. Here’s a song for you…)
Marching Bands of Manhattan – Death Cab for Cutie
(sorry – it’s got no video clip on YouTube, but it really is a lovely song. Just listen…)
Continuing a city …
